Since its founding on July 1, 1977, Pathway To Recovery, formerly Serento Gardens, a 501c-3 non-profit corporation, has helped over thousands overcome their chemical dependencies by giving them the support and opportunity to regain control of their lives. The agency is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. It is a member agency of the United Way of the Greater Hazleton Area, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, and the Association of Recovery Schools.

Serento Gardens' name was changed in 2013. It was formed under an alliance of The Alcoholism Counseling Center of the Greater Hazleton Area and The Halfway Home of the Greater Hazleton Area. Each of these organizations were formed in 1971. Pathway To Recovery has become one of the oldest continually operating substance abuse treatment and education centers in Pennsylvania.
